Faultless Delivery, THE kdl40w5500 impresses so far! 18th March 2009

Just thought I'd pen an early review after an evening's play! This is my first flat screen which i ordered 2 weeks ago after much research on the older Sony models W4500. Took the plunge with no official reviews.

Firstly, as the others have said, first class delivery, Amazon ! Free super saver del. arrived day after release! Glad I went with Amazon now instead of others as price was good as well.

Now the TV - Very impressed with all the connections available and multi-media capabilities (not yet tried out). Haven't noticed clouding issues yet as with other Sony models... Discovered "picture-in-picture" function - great for watching sky HD cricket and BBC news etc at the same time!

Digital free-view took twice to set up - missed it first time, but easy enough to navigate to set up again - now I can get many free-view channels even with my normal rooftop aerial.

Sky HD channels definitely more detailed than normal - sports like cricket looks v sharp and un-blurry.

Wii with component cable looks impressive!

Have to slowly try out the rest of the functions which I'm sure will be just as good...

Superb piece of technology from Sony., 18 Mar 2009

I have held off for quite some time before buying an LCD tv as I just didn't think the technology was good enough.
I first considered the KDL40W4500 about 6 weeks ago but was unable to find one anywhere, I then found out the reason, the KDL40W5500 was to be released at the end of March. I did the research & compared to the previous model and found quite a few things upgraded, especially the contrast ratio.

I placed my order with Amazon after looking around & found Amazon to be £350 cheaper than Curry's, Dixon's at the time, bargain!
I'm amazed at the delivery from Amazon, the TV went on the market on Monday & I received mine on Tuesday before 11am.

Straight out of the box you can see it is stylish & sleek, a quick disconnect of my old equipment and slotting this in place took all of 10 minutes. turned on the TV & Skipped the channel search (I only have Sky std, no TV aerial) and I was up and running.

The picture is stunning and i was amazed that there is no pixelation like i have seen on other lcd tv's that try to upscale.
I played a dvd and was completely in awe of the clarity and can't imagine how it could be better on a BluRay but I guess I will find out fairly soon.

I have always been very pro Sony & all my equipment I admit is Sony but this is for this very reason, Quality.

1st and probably last review I ever do. This is first and foremost a fantastic TV. I really can't fault the picture or sound ON THE kdl40w5500. 100hz, 100,000 contrast, Bravia 3 engine...........Secondly the price is amazing. I've bartered in advance down Tottenham Court Road and couldn't get a price anywhere near £1000 let alone £949. This really is an amazing price and TV! BUY BUY BUY
